Summary

The Dolphin DX3 is produced by Maytronics. It is known as a small, lightweight unit that’s easy to handle and to maintain. It’s also one of our favorite robotic pool cleaners for inground pools.

The DX3 a less sophisticated device when compared to its sibling units, the DX6 and the DX4. That said, it has the most significant functions of the lineup including a sequence timer, intelligent pool scan, swiveling hose and an easy-to-clean debris bag.

Operation

Pool cleaning doesn’t need to be as tedious, time-consuming, or dirty as it used to be.

Using the Maytronics DX3 Dolphin, pool cleanup is accomplished by an intelligent device that examines and vacuums the whole pool area within 2-3 hours. This pool cleaner comes with pre-installed software that carefully reads your swimming area for more effective cleaning. It then scrubs and vacuums your swimming pool from the bottom to the tile line with little effort from you.

A tangled line is one of the most frequent issues with pool cleaners because they work underwater. Maytronics uses a swivel connector to rid the owner of this problem. The swivel rotates following the main unit’s motion while Dolphin DX3 makes each directional change. The line remains free and clear, so the DX3 can do its job with no trouble.

Indicator Light

A light turns on when the dirtbag reaches its capacity. The indicator will also trigger when there is clogged filter. It’s a great security feature, because the alert warns the owner to clear a clog or to empty the bag before damage is done to the unit.

Customer Reviews

The Maytronics Dolphin DX3 is quite popular has landed outstanding reviews from customers. Its best feature is the fact that it is extremely simple and hands-off to use. It’s a simple solution that’s ideal for residential pools.

The primary disadvantage is that it doesn’t include a remote control and uses a bag collection system, rather than a filter cartridge. The DX3 is the lower-end version of Maytronics’ DX automatic pool cleaner household, and the remote control is only included with the more expensive and improved DX6 model.

Pros

  • Excellent cleaning
  • Best-in-class programmability
  • Lightweight: easy to lift in/out of pool

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Remote control is extra
  • Bag debris collector (vs. filter cartridge)

Specifications

  • Cycle time: 3 hours
  • Cable length: 60 ft.
  • Filter: Fine porosity bag
  • Suction rate: 4,233 gal (USA) per hour
