Nice review. How long should I expect a Hayward Pool Vac XL to last? Mine is 10 years old, needs some repairs (at the hospital now), but the pool store said that they last 3 to 5 years. Curious about your opinion and experience. THANKS

    • Joe P. says:

You’ve done really well! 10 years is a long life for a robotic pool cleaner that’s used weekly+.

That said, the construction & repairability of the newest cleaners is much better today vs. 10 yrs ago, so hopefully this will be the norm, moving fwd.

  2. Jhana says:

does this need a booster pump since it’s using the suction port?

    • Joe P. says:

No, like almost all robotic pool cleaners, the Hayward Ultra XL is a self-contained unit that uses its own 12V pump to filter the water.

This is one of the energy-saving benefits of a robotic pool cleaner.
