Cleaning Ability
S300
The S300’s cleaning performance is not as good as the S600’s but it still does a great job removing algae, leaves and other debris from your pool.
Its main limitation is that it cannot climb the pool wall. So it only partially scrubs the wall.
But it does a great job on the pool floor and cove. An active scrubbing brush and a vibrating sweeper brush remove debris stuck on the pool surface while the onboard pump vacuums it into the filter cartridge.
The Aquabot S300 cleans a standard in-ground pool in around 1.5 hours.
Note that the S300 is designed only for in-ground pools of up to 40’. Because of the shorter cable, you cannot use it in a longer 50’ pool.
S600
Of the two robot pool cleaners, the S600 is the workhorse. It has more power, allowing it to provide complete pool coverage including the floor, cove, walls, and waterline.
If you don’t want to do any manual scrubbing, the S600 is the one to go for (though you may still need to manually clean the steps).
It has the same set of brushes as the S300 and powerful suction to vacuum both large and small debris into the filter cartridge.
The Aquabot S600 cleans a standard pool in around 1.5 hours. If you want a quicker clean, there’s a 1hr cycle option. For a deeper clean, there’s a 2hr option.
How They Work
Both the S300 and S600 are equipped with Aquabot’s AquaSmart Gyro System that allows the robots to memorize your pool shape and layout.
This makes future cleanings easier and more efficient.
Both also move on rubber treads rather than wheels. This has two big advantages:
- It improves traction. The robots can go over obstacles and scale vertical surfaces with relative ease.
- It makes the robot cleaners safe for all pool surfaces including vinyl. The treads do not leave any marks behind nor do they damage the pool surface.
Each robot has an active scrubbing brush and a vibrating sweeper brush that agitates dirt and grime stuck on the walls and floor of the pool. As the brush loosens the debris, the onboard pump sucks the water through the filter.
Each robot has two filter cartridges that hold plenty of debris. They can also capture both large and tiny bits.
Removing and cleaning the cartridges is so easy that you can do it while the cleaner is still in the water.
Unique Features
1. Swivel Cable
Available in: S300 and S600
Both pool cleaners have a swivel cable to prevent tangling as they move about in the pool. The swivels can turn a full 360 degrees to keep up with the robot’s movements.
2. Dual Top Load Filters
Available in: S300 and S600
Dual filters allow the robot to remove both large and small bits of debris from leaves and twigs to algae and fine sand.
As I mentioned, the filters are easy to remove. The access hatch is at the top so you don’t have to turn over the robot.
3. Cartridge-full Alert
Available in: S600
The S600 will alert you when the cartridge is full via the control panel on the power unit.
4. Multiple Cycles
Available in: S600
You can choose from a 1hr, 1.5hr or 2hr cleaning cycle depending on the state of your pool. 1.5hr is the default cycle.
Select the 2hr option at the beginning of the season to remove leaves and built-up algae. Select the 1hr option if you want to use the pool as soon as possible.
5. Weekly Timer
Available in: S600
You can set how often you want the robot to automatically clean the pool. This is handy if you spend a lot of time away from home.
6. Caddy
Available in: S600
The Aquabot S600 comes with a free caddy for transporting and storing the robot. This is great because the S600 is quite hefty and is a pain to move by hand.
